3 Logging in to Moodle joule

You may access the Moodle joule homepage directly at the URL http://hcc.mrooms3.net/ which will lead you to this screen:

  • You will see the the Login link on the top right hand side as well as the Login block on the left. To log in to Moodle joule, click on Login in either location and use your active directory username and password, then click on the Login button.

    • Students, your active directory username is just the first part of your HCC email address before “@student.hagerstowncc.edu”; your active directory password is the same password you use for your HCC email account - initially, your seven-digit HCC ID#.

    • If you are using the information above to login to Moodle and are having issues, then you will need to contact our IT department to get your password reset. You can reach them at HCCIT@hagerstowncc.edu or at 240-500-2891. You will need to supply them with your student ID# when you contact them.
    • The directions for updating your active directory password from on campus can be found at http://www.hagerstowncc.edu/current-students/email-password-reset

  • In the middle you have an area for site-wide news and other overall resources or activities.

  • Across the bottom of this page and throughout the site are links to user help files and tutorials.

Once you login, you will see any courses available to you. You can also access your "Dashboard on the top right under the notation “You are logged in as (your name)."
Students will only see course sites that have been activated by the instructor,
typically on the first day of the semester. If you log in prior to any course sites being available to you, you will not see them in a My Courses listing - you will just see the course catalog of sites.


You can also access any Moodle course sites available to you through the HCC Portal.

To log into the HCC Portal from on or off campus: go to https://portal.hagerstowncc.edu
For User Name: hcc\networkusername (the first part of your HCC email address)
For Password: networkpassword (the same one you use to log into your HCC email account)

Once logged into the Portal, you can click on the linked title of the Moodle class site that you would like to access.

NOTE: The first time that you go to a Moodle class site from the HCC Portal, you will see a message that looks like the following:

The login to Moodle failed.
SSO credentials for user "0#.w|hcc\ networkusername" could not be found in application "MoodleSSO" Enter your credentials.

You will need to click on “Enter your credentials” in that message and enter your Moodle username (without the “\hcc” in front of it) and password again.
After completing this step once, you will not need to do it again unless/until you change your network password.
Using the Moodle Classes link in the HCC Portal will take you directly into the corresponding course site.
